Peter Eastwood

Professor Peter Eastwood (School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology)

Peter Eastwood is a Professor within the School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology at The University of Western Australia, and Director of the University’s Centre for Sleep Science. He also holds an NH&MRC Senior Research Fellowship at the West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and an Adjunct Professorship in the School of Physiotherapy at Curtin University of Technology.

Professor Eastwood undertook his PhD studies in respiratory muscle physiology at The University of Western Australia and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. His postdoctoral studies in control of breathing during sleep were undertaken at the University of Wisconsin, and at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital here in Perth. He was then awarded an Astra/Australian Lunch Foundation Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and has served as a Senior Research Fellow there since 2000. Along with his many other academic commitments, Professor Eastwood is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Respirology, the official journal of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology.
