Dr Helena Viola

Dr Helena Viola is a cardiovascular biochemist interested in the study of cardiac mitochondrial function in normal and disease states. She was awarded her PhD (Distinction) in 2010 and the UWA Robert Street Prize.  She is currently a Research Associate in the laboratory of A/Professor Livia Hool. Her current research focuses on the role of the mitochondria in cardiac pathology, and encompasses biochemistry, electrophysiology and bioenergetics studies in animal models of disease and human tissue studies.
